Speaker for April Meeting 6th April 2016
Gilli Theokritoff - Her talk is entitled "Please don't look at the back".

She loves to explore colour and new techniques and she is on a quest to find as many uses of 'freezer paper' as she can discover...
She teaches textile courses and workshops and belongs to two exhibiting textiles groups.
Gilli and an example of her work.
She will also be teaching a workshop on Wednesday afternoon. There is an example below but different images will be available.

March Meeting
Its nice to see so many of you coming to Cosby in the cold and dark.
We all enjoyed Mary Hart showing us the inspiration she gets from her travelling. Its also nice to know someone else can sew anywhere and any time.I am sure her work will inspire us to try some new Technics that Mary uses in her work.
Look forward to seeing you and your lovely work in April, Until then hopefully as well the garden needing some attention the sewing will be fitted in as well.

Next Meeting in March
The speaker in March is Mary Hart.

Mary is a textile artist. She has been working in textiles for 25 years. Her style of working is explorative, experimental and ever evolving as Mary is forever developing more techniques and adding new ideas to her repertoire. Mary finds that new media and processes fuel her work and she often responds to a brief in an intuitive way. Her work is abstract, free flowing and multi layered. She has a wide range of textual techniques at her fingertips.

February Meeting
Welcome everyone. We are looking forward to exciting talks and great workshops in 2016.
The year started with the business of the AGM, following which we had some lovely show and tell.
Lynda Hill gave us an insight in to the Linus project, explaining that the Quilts and blankets that are so generously made and given, then go to children whose young lives are affected by all kinds of circumstances, and for whom these become their own personal hug to keep with them. It is heart warming to know so many of us give our time and expertise to make them.
Have a happy sewing month, looking forward to seeing you in March with your show and tell.

December Meeting
The talk at the December meeting was brilliant and gave us a fascinating insight to Victorian Dress. How the Ladies were layered up and restricted, with the corset then crinoline then a bustle, followed by the many petty coats they wore, was a real eye opener, and that was before the outer garment! I volunteered to be helped into a 1/3 of what they used to wear, it was very heavy and this was the everyday dress, I don't think that kind of fashion would fit very easily into modern day society.
The faith supper as usual was very tasty and more than enough for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to all the committee for their hard work .
Look forward to seeing you at the February AGM.
Jacquie
