Speaker for 2nd July 2014

Jackie Taylor of White Cottage Country Crafts is the speaker for July.  Her talk is entitled
 "Ideas and Inspirations".

She will be bringing White Cottage Country Crafts mobile shop with her.

White Cottage Country Crafts is located in Seisdon, Wolverhampton.  The shop sells fabrics and the usual quilting accessories.  The staff create their own patterns and kits for sale.  There are also day and residential courses.  To find out more visit their website www.whitecottagecountrycrafts.co.uk

Alterations to the Community Church

There have been major alterations to the venue for our meetings.  The pews have been removed and replaced by comfortable chairs.  The kitchen has been upgraded and the toilets have been moved so that they are accessed from the inside of the building.  Also a ramp has been put in addition to the steps from the church into the back room.   

June Meeting

Wednesday evening was very enthralling with a wonderful talk by Barbara Chainey entitled The Tent Makers of Cairo. We heard all about the amazing men who start to sew from the age of 8 to learn the skills of working with fabric, using only scissors to cut out the shapes, and needle-turning the fabric. Skills handed down from father to son. A beautiful array of colourful work Barbara has collected for over 10 years. A very interesting talk. I hope everyone will be inspired to have a go.    Examples of the quilts made by the Tent Makers.

               

Saturday’s workshop with Viv showing us her unique way of sewing the beautiful book cover. We all had a lovely time sorting cutting and sewing with various fabrics from cottons to satins and velvets. Taking home our started work to finish. I am sure we will have some covered books for July’s show and tell.
