December Meeting

The speaker for the December meeting is Brenda Wroe.

She is a contemporary quilt artist with residential ties to the UK, France and Spain.

Her artistic work has two equally enjoyable directions  :.

*  Designing and creating contemporary quilts for exhibitions in the UK and Europe.  Travel through diverse landscapes and architecture constantly inspires her to capture the moment in designs which she can make with stitch using re-cycled and created fabrics.

*   She Judges the work of textile artists in UK and European
competitions and she is a trained and accredited judge of the Quilters'
Guild of British Isles.

Don't forget  to bring a plate of food along to be shared at the Faith Supper.

November Meeting

Cosby Quilters monthly meeting held in Cosby community Church on Wednesday 05/11/14.

Approximately 60 members (including 9 visitors) attended the meeting this month, which was held on bonfire night.  Jacquie, our chair was unable to be there, so Gina Cooke Chaired the meeting.

Our speaker Amanda, from Monkey buttons fame is known to many who attended, as ‘the bag lady’.  It was bags which first made Monkey Buttons so popular with crafters, and she brought with her numerous bags which she spoke about.  Also many other projects, including cushions, wall hangings and full sized quilts – all of which she has designed herself.  She spoke to us about where she finds inspiration, and the details of her designs.  She has a very practical approach, to designing and her bags included many useful features.  A very interesting talk, enjoyed by all.

Our next meeting will be 03/12/14 when our speaker will be Brenda Roe, all were reminded to bring a plate of food along to be shared at that the Faith Supper.

Workshop held on the Thursday after the meeting

OCTOBER MEETING - PHILIPPA NAYLOR

GUEST SPEAKER - PHILIPPA NAYLOR
It was wonderful to see Phillipa Naylor again.  Her talks are so refreshing I don't know how she fits-in going to sleep as well as all the other things she does as well as quilting. It was certainly an insight into her very busy life. What a very talented lady, and look forward to her next talk.

Thanks to Rebecca for bringing her lovely card making and scrapbooking items for sale. It was nice to have different goodies to buy.

Thanks to all those who helped to put up the exhibition at The Big Textile Show.  I went on the Sunday and it was a great exhibition. Some amazing work. The Trunk Show wall hanging made an impressive show of your wonderful work. Such a variety of techniques from our talented members. Well done again for all those who made hangings for The Trunk Show.

Hope to see you all in November with all your show and tell.

Happy sewing - Jacquie Durbar
