The speaker for the May Meeting is Anja Townrow. The talk is entitled "Flower Festival"
Since the late Eighties she has developed her skills by trying out the different techniques in the by then more widely available American books and magazines. During the early 90’s, she made many bed quilts to commission, which enabled her to learn her craft through practice and experience. In 1993, Anja set up ‘Dutch Quilts’ when she started to sell her first patchwork kits at Craft Fairs, and her range of patterns remains available under the ‘Dutch Quilts’ label. After teaching a weekly class for six years, Anja now travels extensively to give lectures and workshops throughout the UK and Europe.

April Meeting
What a lovely relaxing workshop we had on the Wednesday afternoon. It was refreshing just to sit and hand sew. Gilli had some really inspiring patterns to choose from. We all got down to sewing very quickly to produce our Kantha sewing to be framed into a picture.
The evening talk by Gilli was enjoyed by all and over far to quick. Her work was beautiful and gave us insight into her sewing world.
Lovely to see you all. Have a super month, plenty of sewing for next months show and tell.

Speaker for April Meeting 6th April 2016
Gilli Theokritoff - Her talk is entitled "Please don't look at the back".
Gilli Theokritoff is a quilt artist, who is endlessly fascinated by fabric and pattern and all the possibilities they hold. Her background is in commercial design, which helps her to translate the influences around her into strong, graphic quilts.

She loves to explore colour and new techniques and she is on a quest to find as many uses of 'freezer paper' as she can discover...
She teaches textile courses and workshops and belongs to two exhibiting textiles groups.
Gilli and an example of her work.
She will also be teaching a workshop on Wednesday afternoon. There is an example below but different images will be available.

Its nice to see so many of you coming to Cosby in the cold and dark.
We all enjoyed Mary Hart showing us the inspiration she gets from her travelling. Its also nice to know someone else can sew anywhere and any time.I am sure her work will inspire us to try some new Technics that Mary uses in her work.
Look forward to seeing you and your lovely work in April, Until then hopefully as well the garden needing some attention the sewing will be fitted in as well.
