November Meeting

 November's, well supported, meeting gave us the opportunity to meet a local speaker.

Adam Brookes, who was brought up in Whetstone and went to local schools, provided us with a lovely friendly afternoon meeting.

Most of us recognised him from TV's Great British Sewing Bee where he had been a contestant.  Adam outlined his career before and after his TV appearances as well as giving us "insider" details of the show.

We learnt of his early sewing experience, first with his nan and later at secondary school and their active encouragement.  He brought with him the garments he made on the Sewing Bee and we were able to examine them at the end.  He welcomed questions and audience participation.

Adam had a wide knowledge of sewing equipment including machines and fabrics.  His energy and enthusiasm was evident throughout.
